Simchat Torah Oct. 08 2023 in Hebrew "Rejoicing of the Torah," is a celebration marking the conclusion of the annual cycle of public Torah readings, and the beginning of a new cycle.
Simchat Torah is a component of the Biblical Jewish holiday of Sh’mini Atzeret ("Eighth Day of Assembly"), which follows immediately after the festival of Sukkot. On Simchat Torah, we read the last Torah portion, then proceed immediately to the first chapter of Genesis, reminding us that the Torah is a circle, and never ends.
